QUT has over 5,000 international students from more than 90 countries, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Norway, Sweden, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and the USA.
An international student is any student who is not a citizen of Australia or New Zealand or who has not been granted permanent residency in Australia at the commencement of the course. International students completing their Year 12 studies in Australia may apply directly to QUT or through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC). Year 12 students will receive an offer in November directly from QUT, and not from QTAC.

If applying directly to QUT, students should submit a QUT International Application Form to either QUT International or one of QUT's authorised representatives. There is no closing date as applications are processed throughout the year. All international students must meet the University's minimum academic OP, subject prerequisites and English language requirements prior to the start of their course. They must also study full-time as a condition of their Australian Student Visa (unless on a temporary visa allowing part-time study).
