Making the most of your QUT campus tourQUT hosts tours for secondary school groups on its Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove, Carseldine and Caboolture campuses. Tours of our modern facilities include laboratories, lecture rooms, libraries, bookstores, cafes, QUT Cultural Precinct (GP campus), gym, and swimming pool (GP campus). Campus tours incorporate information on QUT courses delivered by experienced school liaison and faculty staff. For large groups of students (30-100) please contact Student Recruitment and Promotions on 07 3138 8669 to discuss options available for your visit. Travel tipsWhen planning your trip please take into account roadworks and peak hour commuter traffic. If you are unsure how long it will take to travel from your destination to a QUT campus, please enquire when booking your campus tour. The trip planner on the following web site may also assist you with journeys to Brisbane: www.travelmate.com.au Campus tours at more than one universityIf your QUT campus tour is part of a day of visits to other university campuses please ensure that you have planned enough time to travel between two or three different locations. The following tips will help you plan your journey:
Bus parkingParking for buses for Gardens Point campus visits is available in bus zones on William Street between Alice and Margaret Streets. Buses may park in the designated bus zones, but cannot park in Brisbane City Council bus stops (which are signed ‘BCC bus stop/zone’ and will usually have a bus shelter). Another option is the bus zones in Peel Street at South Brisbane. Students may then walk across the Victoria Bridge and through the city, or through Southbank and across the Goodwill Bridge. For Kelvin Grove campus visits, students can be dropped off on Victoria Park Road near A Block. Buses can park in the bus zones on L'Estrange Terrace. Buses should not park where there are bus shelters. For more information about bus parking, please contact Brisbane City Council on 07 3403 8888. Refreshment breaksIf you will be travelling for more than two hours, we recommend that you schedule toilet and refreshment breaks (perhaps morning and afternoon tea), in addition to a scheduled lunch break. If you are planning to have lunch at one QUT's student refectories, we suggest you allow a minimum of 45 minutes to give students time to buy and eat their lunch. If students are to bring lunch with them on the day, the Botanical Gardens (next to QUT Gardens Point campus) is a great picnic spot. Southbank Parklands - opposite QUT's Gardens Point campus and linked by the Goodwill Bridge - also provides a good location for refreshment breaks and lunch. |
